A série "Game of Thrones" e a minissérie "Fargo" lideram a disputa, concorrendo em 19 e 18 categorias, respectivamente. Em terceiro lugar, aparece "American Horror Story", com 17 indicações.
O anúncio do Emmy 2014 foi feito ao vivo pela atriz Mindy Kaling, da série "The Mindy Project", e pelo apresentador Carson Daly, do "The Voice", no Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre, em Hollywood. A premiação será realizada no dia 25 de agosto, em Los Angeles, apresentada por Seth Mayers.
